The intervention grown out the necessity of recognizing to the Station, not only the specific function regarding the collective transport, but also identifying for the structure, considered its urban centre, an additional and multifunctional role, with urban character. The project appears from the necessity of adapting the old building, planed and constructed in the 80's, but never finished, at the new modern functional and administrative conditions: from the moment that insufficiencies and wasting of resources have been identified, with safety and administrative problems, a radical revision of the choices taken in the precedent planning phase was made. It appeared, therefore, a new complex design which interested the scheme of the vehicle circulation and, at the same time, the pedestrian routes internal to the station. Together with the reorganization of vehicle and pedestrian flows, a different use of the covered and uncovered station areas has been evaluated, with the purpose of providing a system of polyvalent spaces more suitable and economic productive. The strategic objectives of the adaptation and reshaping project are reduced to the following points: -Adding modality and operative capacity to the Station; -Unfolding the activities regarding the increase of the collective transport quality; -Identifying for the Station an urban role also; -Following functional situations based on the maximum safety criterion: -Implementing the control and administrative functions; -Adding the firm's business. The building destined for accommodating the functions of the Station and the external activities of the transport lines, as those of commercial type, presents itself with three spatial identified volumes, each one endowed with a transversal link, disposed on three sides of a rectangular oriented in the North-South direction, and which delimit a central space for the bus station. According to their plant position, are identified as "East Building", "West Building" and "South Building"; more than that, the altitude of the street, which surrounds the Station, area decreases in South - North direction, crossing from the + 4,31 to a +0,00 meters (relative altitude), the buildings have a different number of levels and the heights don't coincide. In the end, the Station has been revisited and subdivided in the following way: -Level +2: balcony South Building -Level +1: public entrance - atrium - ticket office - public exit -Level 0: square for bus arriving-bus parting -Level -1: private parking - electric city car service
