The purpose of the present project is to adapt the current obsolete system of the line S.S. 145, to the new traffic requirements linked to the continuous increasing tourist activity of the Sorrentina Peninsula. The solution completes the works partly realized, partly abandoned in 1997, allowing the crossing of the North of Pozzano, the Castellamare di Stabia Coast and the Vico Equense habitat. The solution mainly requires an unique tunnel beginning from the Pozzano intersection, with a line inside the coast, joins the existent tunnel of circumvolution of Vico Esqunece habitat through an underground connection. The total length of the line is of 5.136,22 m. Along the line we can identify: -The Pozzano connection, to be completed, mostly finalized. -The Pozzano tunnel begins from the relative intersection and enters the Italcementi pit on a total length of 1.042,09m, including the intermediary line of 46,39 m that is to be completed. -The artificial tunnel included to the open space way towards Italcementi pit is 60 m long. -The Punta Orlando tunnel, already completed with a final lining already installed is 1256 m long. -The artificial tunnel included to the open space way towards Bikini pit, connected with the ventilation power station, is 47 m long. -The Scrajo I tunnel provides the lining already installed on 219,30 m, with another 57,90 m long pre-tunnel and 377,53 m remaining. -The latter is 30 m long in correspondence with the railway station. -The Scrajo II tunnel is newly realized on 450,88 m until it joins the already existing Scrajo Seiano tunnel so that they become one tunnel of a total length of 1739, 71 m. -The project is in accordance with the current norms and especially the prescriptions from LL.PP N. 7398 in 06.12.1999 and N. 7735 in 08.09.1999 coming from ANAS. There was a large focus on the careful selection of the excavating technology so that it respects the seismo-vibrometric limits imposed by the Circumvezuvian railway network for the segments in discussion.
